What’s your role at PAFC Displays and what does a typical day look like for you?
I assist with the flag displays, and when we use the large surfer flags, I often lead the team in moving them around the ground.
On a typical matchday, I arrive at the ground and join the team outside the Devonport End, where the pop-up shop is already set up. I help out with whatever is needed. When it’s time to close the shop, we dismantle everything together — packing away the stock and all the furniture.
After that, I collect my accreditation from the ticket office and join the team inside the ground. We then allocate roles, depending on what’s needed — often influenced by the weather. Once the display is set up before kick-off, we secure everything we can, and then I make my way to my seat.

How did you first get involved with PAFC Displays or the club?
I’ve always been a season ticket holder in the Devonport End and sit with Nick (PAFC Displays Lead), who became a good friend over the years. He approached my brother and me to see if we’d like to get involved — and we said yes.
What’s your favourite part of working at Home Park on a matchday?
Giving the boys the best chance of making Home Park a fortress by helping to create a great atmosphere.

Is there a particular display or moment you’ve worked on that you’re especially proud of?
I’m always proud of the Remembrance displays we do. I feel they should always be something special.
What’s one thing people might not realise goes into creating the displays?
The amount of time it takes — not just to set up, but to clean up as well. When we’ve done large TIFO displays, having fans nearby help collect the sheets and place them in the bags we provide makes a massive difference. It saves the team hours of extra work.

What’s been your most memorable matchday while working with the team?
Despite the result on the pitch, my most memorable day was at Wembley — getting to be pitch-side and having our large surfer flag on display at such a huge venue.

How long have you been a fan?
I’ve been a season ticket holder for 21 years and have supported Argyle for as long as I can remember.

What’s one thing you’ve learned since joining PAFC Displays?
That good displays need a lot of people and a lot of planning. Nick does a phenomenal job getting all of us — and all our resources — organised.
(Also… health and safety gets in the way!)
If someone wanted to get involved with the group, what would you tell them?
We’re always looking for committed people to help — not just with matchday events, but also with setting up displays in advance. It can be a really good laugh, and you build great memories with great people.
And… speak to Nick!
