Getting to know Sophie and Nigel Humpherson
What’s your role at PAFC Displays, and what does a typical day look like for you?
My role at PAFC Displays involves assisting the team in setting up displays and the shop on matchdays. Since we’ve started running the shop, my role has become more dedicated to selling merchandise and raising money for future displays. Both my dad and I typically arrive at 9:30 am, and we close the shop at 2:30 pm to organise the flags on the pitch side. By the time we’ve finished clearing up displays at the end of the match, we have been at Argyle for roughly 9 hours!

How did you first get involved with PAFC Displays or the club?
I’ve lived in Plymouth my entire life, but I only discovered Argyle through my dad, who invited me to attend a game. We fell in love with the atmosphere and became season ticket holders – this then led to my dad finding PAFC Displays through Facebook.
We went up to Argyle one evening to help the displays team and liked the idea of volunteering to help create displays for matchdays. This was about 3 years ago, and we’ve been involved with the displays team ever since.
What’s your favourite part of working at Home Park on a matchday?
My favourite part about volunteering on matchdays is working the shop. I like organising the merchandise and designing new products for the shop to share with the public. I enjoy getting to meet all the different people who attend matches at Home Park, and I find volunteering at the shop is a great way to do this
